G.I.G.-Day 3

I am sad to say that we are only three days in, and I did *not* have a very good day. I really bring it on myself, I know this. But sometimes it seems it takes superhuman strength "to turn that frown upside down" amIright? Yes, yes, it does. God-given strength, without a doubt. So I am working on it, all the while singing to myself,

 "He's still working on me,
to make me who I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars,
the sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must beeee,
'cause He's still workin' on me! "

Please imagine me singing that, and it will certainly give you a smile. But nevertheless, I AM thankful that He is working on me. And that is a bonus one for today. ;)

Today I am thankful for:
1. My crock pot. Having dinner ready at lunch time is just the most.marvelous.thing. Today is "dance" (I don't love dance, just being honest, and I am not the one dancing!) and it is at the most inconvenient time. 5:00pm-6:00pm. And did I mention it is half an hour away? Oh wait, I am being *thankful* not ungrateful! Anyway, walking in the door at 6:30pm to a fully prepared meal? That, my friends, is definitely something for which I am very thankful!

2. And in that vein, can I also just say my dishwasher? We lived in an apartment for our first year of marriage that had a dishwasher-me! I abhor hand washing dishes. So, while that was over 12 years ago, I still am daily grateful for the modern marvel that cleans my dishes (mostly) for me.

3.  Since I seem to have a theme going of kitchen appliances, I will just round out the list with a last one. I love my blender, it enables me to get the healthiest meal of my day, my morning smoothie. They may seem gross to others, but that fruit and veggie packed beverage is a dream come true for me, since I hate chewing before about 11 am!

Did you go beyond the kitchen for your lists today? Be sure to share here, or on the Facebook page! Gratitude begets gratefulness, you know, so tell someone what you are thankful for and see what they have to say!

  1. Our Bible study tonight was on putting on the holiness of God. I am so very grateful for our small group of ladies who are so faithful to be there on Tuesday nights. Tonight, I am especially grateful that we can have a holy moment with God any time we want to draw near to Him. God loves us so much and He looks beyond what we physically appear and He loves us in spite of ourselves and our sinfulness. Thank you, God, for saving me by grace through your son, Jesus!

  2. I love Aunt Paula's thoughts! Today, I'm thankful for my mom. She's spending the week with me and even though she's not her usual, energetic self, it's just comforting to have her nearby. As parents age, you never know what moment(s) with them may be your last. I'm trying to treasure each one as it comes!
